What do the qualifications cover?
These qualifications are an introduction to the primary aspects of working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16 in play environments. They provide an understanding of playwork values, and the importance of play and playwork in children and young people's lives.
The Award and Certificate are mainly knowledge based, with a limited amount of practical application. The Diploma covers the knowledge and skills needed when working under supervision.
Who are they suitable for?
Anyone who wishes to work in a supervised role in a range of playwork environments.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old.
How many credits are reqired to complete them?
The Award requires 10 credits, the Certificate requires 25, and the Diploma requires 61.
How are they assessed?
They will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments, or a task set by CACHE.
Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
For the Award and Certificate you will only require basic access to a playwork enevironment. For the Diploma you will need to be working, volunteering, or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How long do they take to complete?
You can usually complete them in a year or less.
